The NASCAR Sprint Cup and Nationwide
Series head to the scenic Finger Lakes area of upstate New York for road-
course racing at Watkins Glen International, while the Craftsman Truck Series

| Fuel gamble pays off for Edwards in Pocono win
Carl Edwards capitalized on a late-race pit
strategy to win Sunday's Sunoco Red Cross Pennsylvania 500 at the Pocono
Raceway. Edwards last pitted with 35 laps remaining and had just enough fuel
remaining to score his second win at the 2.5-mile triangular track. It was his
fourth victory of the season and the 11th of his NASCAR Sprint Cup Series
career.
|
| Johnson wins the pole at Pocono
Jimmie Johnson once again beat Mark Martin

|
| NASCAR and Goodyear have some tire-fixing to do
After Sunday's tire debacle in the
Allstate 400 at the Brickyard, perhaps a more appropriate name for next
year's event at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway should be the "Tire-Shredder
400," the "Every 12 Laps and its a Competition Caution at the Brickyard" or
the "Your Tires Are Not in Good Hands 400." Clearly, NASCAR and Goodyear
find away to fix the tire situation for the second biggest event on the
Sprint Cup Series schedule.
|
| Johnson's tires hold up for Indy win
Jimmie Johnson won Sunday's Allstate
400 at the Brickyard 400 in a race that was marred with tire problems from the

Chevrolet driver and two-time defending NASCAR Sprint Cup Series champion led
a race-high 71 laps and crossed the finish line 0.332 seconds ahead of Carl
Edwards.

| This Week in Auto Racing July 25 - July 27
NASCAR is in Indy this weekend, and
that means someone will kiss the bricks at the "big" track, while a lot of
beating and banging will go on at the nearby "short" track. Meanwhile, the
IndyCars head north to Edmonton, Canada for the first time.
